Hawthorne - Race #3 - Post: 1:55pm - Claiming - 8.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,500 Class Rating: 81
Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar
#2 STEPHENSCLASSYGAL (ML=7/2) #6 SHAMEONSUAVE (ML=4/1)
STEPHENSCLASSYGAL - Like the way this filly's finish positions keep getting better. That's a sure sign of improving form. This is a classic 'Lone Front-runner' scenario. If Cosme gets him out of the gate cleanly it'll likely be smooth sailing. Three consecutive improved speed figures (31-59-71) make this horse a dominant contender. SHAMEONSUAVE - Don't often see a beneficial return on investment like +52. This jockey/trainer duet has done well together over the last twelve months. Jock jumped on this filly's back for the first time on December 11th. Should 'know' the animal even better in today's contest. Look at this pattern of improvement. 61/63/65 are the last three speed figs.
Vulnerable Contenders: #4 SIMPLY GOOD (ML=5/2), #3 XTRA SPECIAL (ML=3/1), #1 REALITY STAR (ML=5/1),
SIMPLY GOOD - Hard to keep chasing this sort of 'bridesmaid' horse. XTRA SPECIAL - This filly earned a speed figure in her last contest which likely isn't good enough in today's event. REALITY STAR - This runner hasn't been close to the winner at the wire recently.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Putting our cash on #2 STEPHENSCLASSYGAL to win. Have to have odds of at least 6/5 or better though
EXACTA WAGERS: Box [2,6]

Race 7 - Claiming - 8.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $14000 Class Rating: 76
FOR FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON THREE RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 123 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE AT A MILE OR OVER SINCE NOVEMBER 30 ALLOWED 2 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $6,250
RECOMMENDED CHOICES The Walker Group Picks # 8 BEHAPPYALEX 3/1
# 7 HIGHLAND SARA 9/2
# 10 BENNE FIRST BABY 6/1
BEHAPPYALEX is my choice. Displays sound Equibase Speed Figures on average overall when matched with the rest of this group. Has to be considered as she drops to compete against this easier lot. Ran a very solid last race. HIGHLAND SARA - She must be given a chance given the decent speed numbers. Conditioner has solid win rate (18 percent) at this distance and surface.

Fair Grounds - Race #10 - Post: 5:49pm - Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $15,500 Class Rating: 93
Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar
#1 BOLD WOLF (ML=9/2) #4 PECKY'S BOY (ML=5/1)
BOLD WOLF - This gelding is the longer price of the 'split' entry from the barn of Broberg. Sneaky speed on this one. He'll probably be stalking ponies on the back side, then demolish them down the stretch. This gelding's last speed figure notched on Dec 20th is number one in last race speed figs. Don't throw this animal out due to his last race at Fair Grounds where he ran fourth on the soft turf. Should improve this time around. PECKY'S BOY - This gelding runs very well off of a vacation. Lets try to beat the low-odds horses with this gelding. Just missed last out, but ran a pretty good race. The outside post didn't help this horse's chances last time out at Gulfstream. Today's inside post should be just fine.
Vulnerable Contenders: #3 BURN RATE (ML=4/1), #7 CALIPARI'S KITTEN (ML=9/2), #2 CHAD BE GLAD (ML=6/1),
BURN RATE - The lack of morning drills has to make one concerned despite the good effort in the last contest. CALIPARI'S KITTEN - Last raced on Dec 12th at Fair Grounds, finishing fifth. Not likely to move up off of that try in today's race. Didn't finish in the money on December 12th after the long vacation. Be doubtful of this horse this time out. CHAD BE GLAD - The fourth place finish last time around the track coming after the extended rest time is undeniably not a positive signal.
Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - PECKY'S BOY - A longshot with the top TM Power Rating. What more could you ask for?
STRAIGHT WAGERS: #1 BOLD WOLF to win at post-time odds of 7/5 or better

Race 1 - Maiden Claiming - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $5500 Class Rating: 59
FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 123 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $5,000.
RECOMMENDED CHOICES The Walker Group Picks # 8 DUKE OF VISEU 6/5
# 2 CODE BLUE ZONE 8/1
# 7 HADAL ZONE 4/1
DUKE OF VISEU has a formidable shot to take this race. Last time out, this gelding was up against a much tougher bunch. The average class figure of 63 makes this entrant hard to beat. Miller has this gelding racing well and is a strong choice based on the formidable Equibase Speed Figs posted in sprint races as of late. CODE BLUE ZONE - With a strong 50 average speed rating at the distance, seems well suited for today's outing. HADAL ZONE - Have to wager on this gelding with the solid earnings per start in dirt sprint races.

Handicapped by Rick Needham at Aqueduct Click here to purchase the full race card RACE #5 - 2:16 PM The Bay Ridge Stakes 8½ FURLONGS FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $100,000.00 PURSE
#1A CARAMEAWAY / #1DREAMING OF CARA #3 LITTLE ROCKET #10 STORIED LADY #8 MISSED DA POINT
For you folks who are unfamiliar with New York City's "geography," this race is name after Bay Ridge which is a neighborhood in the southwest corner of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, New York City. It is bounded by Sunset Park on the north, Dyker Heights on the east, the Narrows and the Belt Parkway on the west, and the Verrazano Bridge on the south. While some consider Fort Hamilton a separate neighborhood, it is usually considered a part of Bay Ridge. Here in the initial running of this stake test for New York Breds ... #1A CARAMEAWAY has hit the board in four straight starts, winning three times in this recent streak of racing consistency, including "POWER RUN WINS" in both her last start, as well as in her 3rd race back. I've included her stablemate, #1 DREAMING OF CARA on my contender's list, but do NOT use her as a "key" on your exotic tickets if CARAMEAWAY is scratched! She is simply not as talented! #3 LITTLE ROCKET, a 20-1 BOMB, takes a class drop (-7), and has hit the board in three of her last five outings, and will add blinkers today ... as noted in numerous occasions in the past, this subtle equipment change often produces noticeable speed boosts in their first applications.
